Schweitzer Red Angus was started in November of 2014. I have had a commercial herd since 1999 that I started with my late grandpa Jim Wehrs. In 2001-2004, I worked at the University of Nebraska Cow Calf Research center and was active in the Bull and Cow Calf program for three years. During this time I developed a true passion for the Red Angus breed due to the disposition and hybrid vigor I saw stand out.
In 2014 cows were purchased from Dr. Jim Gosey’s Herd in Raymond Nebraska. Using the Gosey cows as donor’s while also buying some other pure bred stock in the Midwest the foundation of the herd was started. My goal is to use the industry’s leading Red Angus bulls through artificial insemination combined with the best Dam’s I can create within the program. I look forward to selling both exceptional bulls and heifers in the future to increase efficiency and production in other Cow Calf programs across the Midwest.
My Wife Jamie and I have three daughters Kira, Karissa, Kenzi. We recently had a baby boy – our Son Braxton is now part of the family. We live just one mile south of I-80 in Milford Nebraska. Thanks for taking the time to look at our site and don’t hesitate to call anytime.
